She claims to believe that Dibs should be respected and accepted no matter what, but it is also very important to her that Dibs is not intellectually disabled, and the narrative seems to present the idea that, had Dibs been intellectually disabled, there would have been no point in trying to help him.

I picked this book de, at a conference several years ago and it sat on my shelf until it was recommended by a therapist busac trained me in Sandtray. Kids have been branded with low IQ, when instead of successfully doing the task of classifying wooden blocks based on their shapes and colors, some three-year-olds end up building a Choo-Choo train with the blocks and fail the test. And thirdly, though Axline claimed to have recorded all the sessions, I still felt that the child’s language is not authentic.
In each moment I found myself wanting to find this child and hug them and make everything better. And his parents, despite their prior mistakes, made an effort to look into themselves, identify their mistakes and redeem their bonds with de child. go
