I feel like, at least at my school, it’s far too tempting for my students to cilm transcribe some or all of the proffered essay over doing their own analysis so I’m opting to just skip those films. Parts I and II teach students to recognize how the components of film-narrative, mise en scene, cinematography, editing and sound-work together to produce meaning within an individual film text.

Overall I’m thrilled fiilm the book, I enjoyed reading it, and I’m looking forward to using it this coming semester. Great for learning the very basics of cinema, but a little to much emphasis on writing about film for just a casual read–unless its used for a course.
